My father-in-law, Sam passed away 5 years ago today, very suddenly & unexpectedly.  He was in the army, and drove a tank while serving in Vietnam.  While he was in Vietnam, he had a pet monkey he called “Charlie”.  The picture in the Preblast was of Sam and Charlie.

Happy Birthday to the Man of the Year!  Glad he’s back to feeling better and back out in the gloom with us!  We all gave him a big birthday hug.

It was fun getting to celebrate a birthday today in the gloom, but for me it’s also a bit of a somber day to remember my father-in-law.  Both of my M’s parents died very suddenly and unexpectedly, and we miss them everyday. While praying, I was reminded of Psalm 39:4-Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.  Remind me that my days are numbered-how fleeting my life is.  Also Psalm 90:12-Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

I admire Trojan’s family, Square’s family, and any family that is called/lead to adoption.  Whenever I hear the hardships they’re going through with their kids, I can’t help but admire how they just keep showing up, sacrificing everyday, putting in the work, and loving their kids, even though it’s crazy hard to do somedays.  It always makes me think of Romans 5:8- God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. I pray that we can all love our kids the way Christ loves them.  I also pray that we will have the wisdom to be men of courage, and stand against evil, and be willing to stand in the gap where HIM are needed.  As men, we have the opportunity to speak life and courage into our family, and to each other.  Our F3 group is strong, alive and well because of the life that gets spoken into the group through all of you PAX everyday! I’m proud to know you guys, and proud of you for making the decision to get out of that fartsack on a cold, snowy morning!

Thanks for playing in the snow!
