COT
Well, when I designed this WO, I thought this would be a short backblast. But then we had an amazing COT discussion, so I gotta share it all…So here goes!
I started off COT by reading some lyrics from a song called “Jericho” by Behold the Beloved (my coworker is the guitar player in this band). “Sometimes His ways are hard to understand, Stuck praying in circles asking “what is your plan?” You struggle for reasons, you keep marching on, when nothing happens, no progress is shown…So hold on, be strong, be faithful to his call, cause this might be your 6th time around Jericho, His promise is true, the Lord will come through” …I’ll attach a link to the song!
The WO today was designed around the command of today’s date…March 4th (or Forth)! Whatever you’re going through, keep marching on. You brothers in the gloom have helped me more than you’ll ever know continue marching through life. We carry a lot of burden’s, but when we share those burdens they lose a lot of weight. Like Big Blue said, we have the 1st F which is the magnet, the 2nd F is the glue, and the 3rd F is the dynamite. Our physical fitness is important, but it’s our spiritual health that determines our impact. He brought up the concept of reacting vs. responding. In every situation we’re faced with, we have a choice, to react or respond. Reacting is easy. It’s the emotion. When under pressure what’s inside us comes out. Hardcode made a great point about training. As men, it’s easy for us to train our body’s and train our minds for intellectual purposes, but we also need to train our hearts. None of us are perfect, but being a part of this group, we recognize our need to become better, but also our need for the 3rd F, something outside of and bigger than ourselves. It just so happened that my Psalm reading for today was Psalm 37. Verse 8: Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper-it only leads to harm. Verse 23 & 24: The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Our God has a father’s heart, and he calls us to have a father’s heart. How are you doing with your anger? How are you doing with your reactions? How are you doing with your heart training and discipline? Are you reacting from emotion…anger, fear, arrogance, hatred, selfishness, or even passivity, disassociation, or ignorance? Or are you responding…humility, confidence, love, grace, action, joy, and peace? (What Galations 5:22 says are the fruits of the spirit) To be leaders to others begins with leadership of our hearts. What or whom are we allowing to lead our hearts? If we don’t train our hearts to be soft, it’ll only lead to hardness of heart. My prayer for you PAX today is to allow God to search you and know your heart. Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
March forth, and keep on marching!
Great work men, and great discussion! Love you guys!
