BACKBLAST:

I needed 10 pax to make my plan work and we got 11. Thanks for coming out and answering the “call” well texts.

2 groups of Pax rotated through a series of exercises for 20 min that targeted the whole body. Each exercise was AMRAP while the timer ran.

Group A

  1. Block Curls
  2. Squats 60# SB
  3. Merkins
  4. Block Not Worthies
  5. J-Los
  6. Timer –> run to the flag pole and back. ~0.3 miles

Group B

  1. Hang Clean 40# SB
  2. Dry Docks
  3. Block Rows
  4. Deadlift 120# SB
  5. Plank Jacks
  6. Timer –> run to the flag pole and back. ~0.3 miles

Each pax was able to run at least 3 laps logging ~1 mile.

At COT Patches, Stall and Bunyan were introduced in their respective SLT roles. I mentioned that as Nantan Patches would be leading LANCO in the next 43′. This promoted the question of “why that number, why 43?” We stumbled a little with the answer and while we were correct we were not detailed. Here is a better answer straight from Dark Helmet.

F3: Again, the podcast is called, “43 Feet.”Explain the origin and dual meaning of the number 43.

DH: Well, the number 43 gained significance in the early days of F3 in Charlotte Metro.  Guys who were 43 years old were so over-represented in those first workouts that it became a joke in the COTs.  The number was later adopted in the book and lexicon as part of the phrase “Building 43 Feet Ahead” in reference to building a leadership road forty-three feet ahead of the people driving on it. The metaphor extends to mentoring and being willing to share your life lessons with guys who are just behind you on their life journey.
