BACKBLAST:

Warm up

We circled up with the other Rapho PAX, they began with a mosey, we began with a slowsie to the lower pavilion.

The Thang

On this date in 1983 (43 years ago) the Pioneer 10 probe became the first human made object to traverse Neptune’s orbit and become the first interstellar object from Earth. Its original mission was to do a fly by of Jupiter. It was the first spacecraft to arrive at that planet’s orbit. The mission’s final data transmission occurred in 2003 as it headed out of our solar system. In honor of this occasion, the names of all the exercises today spell out “Jupiter Fly By” and were usually done to a count of 10 in honor of Pioneer 10.

J – James Bonds – 10 each direction

U – Up Straddle Hops – 10 in cadence

P – Paula Abduls (around the pavilion) – Eagle stated something really funny about the distance (but what happens in Maintenance Crew… stays in Maintenance Crew)

I – Imperial Stormtroopers – 10 in cadence

T – Tie Fighters – 10 for each leg. A lot like patting your head and rubbing your tummy.

E – Earl Fondas – 10 in cadence then switch sides and repeat

R – Randys – count of 10 in each direction

F – Flutter kicks – 10 in cadence

L – LBCs – 10 in cadence

Y – Yoga #1 – Crescent Lunge Pose – hold for 30 seconds

B – Blarts – hold for 30 seconds

Y – Yoga #2 – Warrior Pose – hold for 30 seconds

15 min Walk with an EMOM of Grass Pickers Progression (in cadence)

Minute 1 : 1 Grass Picker

Minute 2 : 2 Grass Pickers

Minute 3 : 3 Grass Pickers

Minute 4 : 4 Grass Pickers

And so on for 15 minutes. This was to remind us that we were still on good ol’ Terra Firma, however, it was ironic that most of these were done while on a path, and not the grass.

Mary

Star Gazers (really did you expect anything different?) – hold for 30 seconds.

COT

Done with the other Rapho group.

Final Thought:

Everything was done with intention, and yes, we even broke a sweat while realizing that some of these lesser known exercises are good for core and shoulder work. We followed the Maintenance Crew core principle of “Keep it simple, controlled and beneficial.” Just like Pioneer 10, we did not rush through, but we reached beyond the stars. And maybe even saw a few during Mary.
