BACKBLAST:

Capital Area Polar Plunge 2026

Today, a whole bunch of misfits, and one Freaker, who shall not be named, took off to Gifford Pinchot State Park and took the plunge into the icy water!

3 bald PAX had another PAX join the ranks of shiny-headed-PAX-dom, as Door Dash lived up to his promise and decided to “Do It Right” by allowing Trojan to shave his head! With the hair brushed off the shoulders and the sun properly reflecting off his dome, it was time to load up the vans!

After the 45 minute drive of contemplating one’s decisions in life, and some stop light shenanigans *cough* Trojan, we turned into the parking lot.

Upon arrival, the look of disbelief and shock came across those that have never done the plunge before, and my daughter looked out over the lake and says, “uhhh….is that ice!?!?!?!” Yes…yes it is ice!

Some merkins were done by Big Blue and Doordash, while the rest of us didn’t pick up the 6 and just watched! We lined up, took some pictures, and proceeded to get down to our skivvies! Some looked much skinnier than last year…I guess that’s because we work out! Then there was Red Card, who can’t get skinnier or else he’ll disappear! One pax, upon first glance had brand new six pack abs. But those were just the artwork of Meatball! There were those that have done this before that helped guide the newbies into the cold, wet unknown! Or some PAX that just “tripped” and fell into another PAX! Right Eagle?!? Then there was even the youngest of PAX (4 year old Little Bunyan) who cried after getting out of the water because he wanted to go back into the water! I think he tapped into his inner Viking!!

We ended up at Mission BBQ to thaw out and stuff our newly invigorated and exfoliated faces! That dirty pond water does wonders for the skin! At Mission BBQ we got to see some bearded guy that acted like a PAX…seemed like a wannabe Lanco PAX if you ask me! Right Payload?!

Even though the outside temp. was warmer than previous years, and some PAX *cough* Patches *cough*, said is it really a Polar Plunge, or just a “polar” plunge!? There was ice on the lake, so I’d think it can still be considered a Polar Plunge!

What an awesome, fun, crazy day, with the best group of Misfits on this side of the Susquehanna! (Ok, and one from the other side!)

You guys are awesome!
